Regenerators Concert at the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival

College has had a strong relationship with the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival for many years.  The festival is back this year and will feature a special concert of The Hamilton and Alexandra College soloists accompanied by festival co-director and renowned Australian concert pianist, Stefan Cassomenos.   Stefan and co-director Monica Curro have been like family this year in the Hamilton and Alexandra College Music Faculty, visiting numerous times to conduct individual extension lessons, workshops, VCE masterclasses and were an invaluable source of encouragement, inspiration, and drive in our preparations for the Sesquicentenary Music Showcase.

The concert will feature Nicholas Hoskyns, Millie Davidson, Andrew Sun, Anna Davidson, and Lachlan Reid and will be held at 3:30pm on Saturday 15th October, at the Lecture Hall, Port Fairy.   Tickets can be purchased via the following links.  Along with this event, a number of our students will perform in an exciting contemporary atmospheric performance experience using the Federation Bells in the amazing acoustic of St Brigid’s Church in Crossley.  The festival has an exciting line up of concerts from new composers to well-known operatic delights.

VCE Music Performance Examinations

Our three VCE Music Performance students, Alexa Balog, Jemima Bishop-Mowatt, and Ned Walker will complete their VCE Performance Examination next Wednesday, here at the College.  This is a first for the College to host music performance examinations.  The College Music Department and the Kantor Family Music and Performing Arts Centre was selected by the VCAA as the venue to host these examinations due to ongoing enrolments in the subject, reputation for excellence in music and for our outstanding facilities.  In the past, these examinations have only been held in metropolitan areas with Western Victorian students having to travel.

Alexa, Jemima, and Ned are dedicated and experienced musicians who have displayed proficient ensemble and solo musicianship skills throughout their time at the College.  They have been long-standing members in numerous ensembles, significantly represented the College in external competitions and festivals and have played an integral role as leaders in the musical life of the College.  They have demonstrated outstanding dedication and persistence in pursuing music to attain a high level of accomplishment.  They were recognised this week with Music Colours, alongside many other students, and next weeks’ performances will mark the end of this part of their secondary school music journey.
