Myrniong - Prep to Year 6

Junior School Sesquicentennial Project

As our sesquicentennial year draws to a close, it gives me great pleasure to announce the final Junior School event to celebrate our 150th year as a school.  We would like to plant a woodland around the Myrniong oval. Junior School families and staff are being invited to purchase and plant a family tree, which you can watch grow at Myrniong.  Our College Property Manager, Mr. Nick Dopheide has been working hard to source species that will grow and thrive in the Myrniong surrounds.  Junior School families will shortly receive an invitation to be part of this special event and, to form a lifelong connection with Myrniong. Please keep an eye on the children’s school bag – the invitation will come home with your eldest child.

Summer Uniform

Next Monday, 17th October marks the first day of compulsory summer uniform at the Junior School.  Our two-week grace period, in which students can wear summer or winter uniform, finishes tomorrow. Fingers crossed for some warm spring weather.

Myrniong Year 12 Assembly

Next Thursday we welcome back to Myrniong 14 of our current Year 12 students who attended the Early Learning Centre/Prep through to Year 5 from 2008 to 2015.  It is a special day for these students, as they enter their final week of schooling at College prior to commencing their VCE exams.  The students will make their way up the oak-lined driveway and into the Refectory for a special assembly.  Parents of our Year 12 and Junior School students are most welcome to attend.  The walk up the driveway will commence at 2:30 pm.

Cyber Safety

On Tuesday, Warrnambool Police Youth Resource Officers, Brooke and John, visited the Junior School and ran cyber safety sessions with our Year 4, 5 and 6 students.  The digital world is an increasingly complex space, and their messages were important ones for our students.

  • not to send a picture of themselves to someone they do not know
  • to never place a full profile and picture of themselves anywhere on the internet
  • to never give out personal information including their name, home address, phone number or school
  • to never arrange a face-to-face meeting with someone they have chatted with on the internet

New Guidelines - COVID

Throughout the last three years, College has followed government advice regarding COVID.  As of today, the following guidelines are in place for Early Learning Centre and Junior school students.

It is strongly recommended that students:

  • who test positive to COVID-19 should stay home and isolate for 5 days
  • should not attend school after 5 days if still symptomatic
  • who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school
  • advise the school of the COVID-19 positive test result.

Where students become symptomatic at school they should:

  • be collected by their parents/carers
  • undergo testing for COVID-19.
