From the Acting Principal

The Hamilton and Alexandra College 150th Annual Speech Day will be held on Friday 21 October.
This is always a very special event in the school calendar, and we are excited to honour this occasion in our 150th year with our College parents and guardians back in attendance.
We have now reached capacity in the Simons Auditorium; therefore we will be live streaming the events via the following link: 2022 Speech Day
Please free to share this link with family and friends and you can watch this in real time, starting at 1.30pm, or whenever is convenient to you.
LEADERSHIP 2023
The new student leadership team for 2023 was announced in assembly on Wednesday and will be formally inducted at the Senior School Speech Day on Friday 21st October. We are exceptionally proud of all our Year 11 students, and we know they will lead with empathy, respect and humility.
The entire process for selecting each of our school leaders (prefects) is, in my opinion, exhaustive and transparent.
- Each student from Years 7 to 12 was invited to vote for House and School Captains.
- Staff were invited to cast votes for School Captains.
- Every Year 11 student was encouraged to submit a formal application, together with a resume to their Head of House.
- Every Year 11 student was formally interviewed by the Head of House.
- Students short listed by the Head of House to be School Captain or SRC President were formally interviewed by the Principal, Deputy Principals and Head of Senior Years.
- The Pastoral Care Committee, consisting of the Principal, Deputy Principal Wellbeing, Head of Senior Years, Head of Middle Years, Director of Boarding, together with Heads of House met to make recommendations for successful candidates.
- The Principal appoints the successful candidates on the recommendation of the committee.
- Unsuccessful candidates are invited to speak to the Head of House to discuss their application and seek guidance.
