Floods - How to Volunteer

The following letter contains information specific to the Rochester community:

 

Good Morning, 

 

As mentioned in our previous emails we honestly could not thank you all enough for reaching out to our community with your support during the recent floods that devastated our town of Rochester. Thank you to those who have come down and put in time, effort and resources to get us through the last two weeks. 

 

During the initial emergency stages the clean up and coordination of volunteers has been run by a group of local volunteers. We will be handing over to Disaster Relief Australia that has worked really closely with our flood recovery team and local community and will continue to do so as we transition to the recovery stage of this disaster. Therefore, if you wish to still volunteer can you please register via the link below or scan the QR code attached. 

 

We still desperately need your help, you can register here https://disasterreliefaus.org/vic-flood-recovery/ or visit the disaster relief set up RSL Sub-branch Memorial Hall, 5 Victoria Street, Rochester, across the road from the Presbyterian Church.  Alternatively, you can email plans.6@disasterreliefaus.org or call 0460 000 433. 

 

DRA and registered volunteers will be able to assist with heavy lifting and dirty work such as:

  • Removal of carpet.
  • Removal of plasterboards/drywall.
  • Removal of household items that are flood affected.
  • Removal of debris washed into properties.
  • Cleaning down of surfaces and mould

In addition to this we still require assistance with cleaning up local spaces, foodshare, BBQ's etc.
