From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

There is no doubt that the past two/three weeks have been difficult for our Community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents for their support and understanding during the situation we found ourselves in. It was imperative that our sense of community was at the forefront of College decisions. I thank you for your continuing selflessness, compassion and empathy for others. It saddens me to say that some members of the St Augustine’s Community were impacted significantly by the floods and our thoughts and prayers go out to these families.

Despite the weather conditions, I was extremely grateful that the Year 10 camp to Queenscliff was able to go ahead. Students (and staff) had a wonderful time undertaking a variety of different activities. You may have seen some of the photos on our FaceBook page. A special thank you to the staff who attended the camp and in particular, Mr Michael Mott for leading the camp.

I was also delighted that our Grandparents and Special Friends Day was able to go ahead. It was wonderful to see over 200 grandparents, parents and special friends attend the Mass, visit classrooms and then share in a morning tea afterwards.

As I write this newsletter article, St Augustine’s College is preparing to host our Arts and Design Technology Showcase. The Showcase is a wonderful opportunity for our students (and even some of our staff) to share their work. A special thank you to our Technology staff, and in particular Mrs Michelle Downie, who have worked with our students to create the most amazing artwork.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish our Year 12 students every success in their VCE Exams. Despite the recent flooding, our Year 12 students have approached their exams with such positivity and we wish them the very best. It is a timely reminder that our Year 12 Celebration Assembly has been rescheduled for Tuesday 15th November. We are very much looking forward to welcoming back our Year 12 students to the College one last time.
