Principal's Report

Mrs Clare Healy

Dear O'Connor Community,

This week we will farewell our Year 12 students as they prepare for their Higher School Certificate exams. As a community of parents, staff and students we will have an opportunity to support our Year 12 students at their Graduation Mass in our Chapel on Wednesday evening. I would like to thank Mrs Denise Fittler, Ms Melita Roache, Mr Andrew May, Mr Nicholas Troon and Mrs Christine Gerard for all their work in ensuring our Year 12 students are given a very special evening.

A special thanks must go to Mrs Vicki Channon who has given our Year 12 students and their families support throughout the year.

On Friday we as a school community will be able to celebrate the successes of Year 12 as they graduate from our College. All parents are invited to the Cathedral at midday to support our students at their Graduation Ceremony. As a community we wish all our Year 12 students the best in their Higher School Certificate exams and look forward to our final celebration at the Year 12 Formal once the exams are completed.

Staff changes Term 4

Mr Stephen Chapman will be taking leave in Term 4. We are pleased to announce that Mrs Mellissa Bell will be our Acting Assistant Principal Wellbeing in his absence. Mr Andrew May will take up the position of Religious Education Coordinator. Both Mrs Bell and Mr May are highly experienced educators who will bring their talents and expertise to these positions and our College.

Ms Lauren Donnelly will take up the Acting Leader of Pedagogy position and will work closely with the Leadership team and Mr Michael Wooster (Literacy Coach). Our College vision is to provide opportunities for our students to succeed. Ms Donnelly and Mr Wooster will work closely with Year 8 and their teachers in the areas of reading and writing for Term 4. We look forward to sharing the successes of Year 8 in this project.

We are pleased to announce that Ms Jessica Armfield will take up the Acting English Leader of Learning position. Ms Armfield is a passionate educator who has worked closely with Ms Lauren Donnelly in the English Faculty over a number of years.

We are pleased to welcome Mr Luke Andrews (Science/Chemistry), Ms Lily Fryar (PDHPE), Mrs Marie Gould (Mathematics) and Ms Julie Becker (HSIE/English) to our College. These wonderful educators bring their expertise and passion for learning to our College. We will formally welcome them into our community at our Monday Assembly, 10th October.

We are also pleased to welcome seven Naru pre-service teachers as part of our partnership with the University of New England. An important part of our leadership in education is to assist in the development of our future teachers.

As we take a well deserved break at O’Connor we wish all our families a safe and restful holiday.

God Bless,

Clare Healy
