Timetable 2023

In 2023, to comply with the recent changes in the Victorian Government Schools Agreement (VGSA), our school is considering changes to our Specialist timetable and playtimes, to ensure all teachers can access their designated 30 minutes lunch break (non- face-to-face, non- teaching or instruction times).

Lunchtimes for teaching staff are taken between 11.30am and 2.30pm.

For our student timetable, this means a later first break, commencing at 11.30am. For some students, this is hugely beneficial, as eating a larger meal earlier in the day, can support sustained learning and engagement for the rest of the day. Other students may have had a hearty breakfast, and prefer to have a bigger meal later in the day, around 2pm.

Factors to consider include; when would the best time for lunch orders to be delivered, how does this affect the routines for students using medication, and should the school have a whole school ‘brain food’ break after 9.00 and before 11.30, for students who prefer to ‘graze’ more regularly.

The consultative team strongly values parent input on this issue, and I urge parents to make contact regarding your thoughts on this timetable change, so we can take all aspects into consideration before making any final changes. Parents/carers can communicate their thoughts via Dojo, Email to the school, send a note or see me (or Michael) in the yard before or after school. Your views are important and we are eager to hear from you all.
