Year 3 Report

Term 4, 2022

Well done to all the Grade 3 students! It's has been a fantastic year, filled with learning and lots of fun.  We wish all our families a safe and wonderful summer holiday!

 

Literacy

This Term the students learnt how to write a memoir.  The students explored and identified authors craft in mentor texts as well as applying this in their writing. They  revised and edited their writing to improve and achieve their goals. The Writer's festival was a great success and students were really excited in sharing their work with parents. The Grade Three's had fun writing haiku and cinquain poems. In reading the students continued to work on comprehension strategies and worked in small groups to develop a deeper understanding of the text.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Maths 

This Term students learnt about fractions. Students investigated fractions of a whole, fractions of a collection and fractions on a number line. They also spent some time learning about equivalent fractions. Students looked at Mass and Capacity and the difference between the two, Symmetry and how to tell if something is symmetrical, Angles and telling time on an analogue clock.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Inquiry 

This Term the Inquiry question was, 'What Makes Australia Unique'.  The students learnt and located Australian states, territories, capital cities and landmarks on a map. The students enjoyed researching cities and learning new information about their country.
