Year 1/2 Report

Term 4 2022

What a fabulous year of learning the grade 1/2s have had this year. Yay! A full year of learning in the classroom without any lockdowns! We hope all our families have a lovely and safe summer break.

Term 4 saw our students visiting Science Works. They all had a blast!

Numeracy

During Term 4 in Numeracy, students explored multiplication and division. They applied their knowledge to real life problems and modeled using a range of materials and strategies. Students learnt how to tell time to the hour, half and quarter hour. Students explored fractional parts including halves, quarters and eighths of shapes and collections. During our measurement units, students explored the mass and capacity of objects using informal units such as marbles, sand and water.

Literacy

During Term 4 in Reading, students investigated a range of author’s craft through picture story books which supported them in writing in the style of their favourite authors. Our students were excited to showcase their writing in our annual Writer’s Festival.

Students were able to share a point of view on a topic and used evidence to justify their opinion. They participated in robust debates about topics that were important to them.

Inquiry

During Term 4 in Inquiry, students participated in a range of cooperative games with a focus on how to ‘work and play together’ in a team. They learnt the importance of having a role in a team and how to encourage and support other team members.
