Mathematics

In the previous newsletter we put a spotlight on the contents of the Mathematics Curriculum in Victoria for Levels 3 and 4. In this edition, we bring you the content for Levels 5 and 6, together with some place value problem solving and games for our senior students to play.

Level 3-5 Parent-Student Game Time

Roll a Remainder

This game is for 2-players. You will need two sets of different coloured counters and a dice numbered 2 to 7 (or just say that if you roll a 1, call it a 7).

Choose a number from the board below and put a counter on it.

Roll the dice and divide the number your counter is on by the number on the dice.

Your score is the REMAINDER after you have divided.

Take turns with your partner.

The winner is the player with the highest total at the end of the game.

Mathematics Curriculum Level 5 and 6

The Mathematics Curriculum we follow in Victoria is broken into 3 strands: Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry and Statistics and Probability. The following two links are where you can find the entire Victorian Curriculum. The scope and sequence link is easy to look at online but for the sake of your eyesight, the tables below present it broken down into separate year levels. 😊
