Student Support Team

Mental Health Youth Forum

Our school took a small delegation to the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Mental Health Youth Forum this year. The theme was Tune In for better Mental Health. In attendance were Mack B and Shea K from Year 11; Lucy K, Meghan A and Henry C from Year 10 and Olivia M and Bianca I from Year 9. One of our ex-students Brady Jones spoke as one of two 'Lived Experience Speakers' about his Year 12 experience and how to ‘tune in’ and keep it in perspective as well as the people who had been a support. Kate Cullen our school psychologist was on the panel to share how students can find support within schools.

Shea and Olivia presented our poster to the forum in a 1-minute pitch that got much applause and feedback afterwards. Mack and Shea have already presented to their stage assembly and have reported meaningful conversations with peers as a result. This speaks to the value of peer presentations and student engagement on topics that resonate with them.
