It’s never easy to put together a whole theatre performance, let alone put one together in 4 weeks! To then make that show as spectacular as our show this week was, is nothing short of a truly impressive effort, one only achievable by an equally spectacular, hardworking and dedicated class.
The actors, despite having very limited time to learn an entire monologue each, all managed to deliver a beautiful performance, where I truly believe it would be impossible to say one was significantly better than the others.
The true driving force however was the incredible group of students who worked as our design team. The actors wouldn’t have been anywhere without the designers. I can’t understate how much work they had to put in to make our show as good as it was with only 4 weeks to do so. Working together, both in and out of class, up until the very last minute, behind the scenes, in order to make the breath-taking show we put on this week.
I want to give a huge congratulations to all of our class who chose to act and put themselves out there to deliver an amazing two nights. And I also want to restate how much gratitude I have for all the members of the design team who can often receive far less recognition.
Once again, I am incredibly proud of this amazing class, and I cherish every moment that I get to work with such an incredible and kind group of students. Thanks also to our Theatre Studies teacher Ms Birrell and to Sarah Rietmeyer for all of their encouragement, support and assistance.

At the Year 12 Last Day Celebrations assembly, it was my honour to present Evan and Jason Henderson with Awards in recognition of their Extraordinary Services to Wantirna College. Their commitment has encompassed, not just a dedication to honing their craft in Light, Sound and Stage Management but a raw determination to be involved beyond what is expected - to learn and to assist. A framed acknowledgement will also hang in the Theatre Foyer.
Evan and Jason, we wish you all the best for success in your future endeavours!
It is that time of year again where I ask for enrolment intentions for 2023. I would encourage everyone to continue learning an instrument next year and be involved in the amazing experiences on offer.
