Cultivating Community

In the school food garden, Year 3/4s have been busy preparing a new garden bed which we like to call the ‘lasagne garden’. First we installed a sleeper edging, then layers of compost, mulch and cardboard which our hard working friends the worms will turn into soil for us.

We also used rosemary from our garden to make a wreath for remembrance day.

We have been harvesting carrots, radishes and learning about the broccoli plant. Did you know that the broccoli we eat is actually a flower bud? If you let it keep growing you will get lots of yellow flowers, which are also edible!

Be sure to save the date for our Open Garden afternoon on Fri Nov 25, 2.30-4pm.
