ISA Round 3 Fixtures – Saturday 5 November 2022

2nd XI v Oxley College @ Oxford Falls #1 (10.00 am start)

1st XI v St Gregory’s College @ Campbelltown – Saturday 29 October 2022

The 1st XI travelled to Campbelltown for Round 2 of the ISA competition.  A large oval and hard, flat pitch greeted the visitors who also noted that the outfield would be slow. Captain Joel Austin won the toss and had no hesitation in batting. He and Pat Frost (22) put on a half century partnership before Will Pavely (42) combined well with his captain who brought up his century in fine style. Darcy Aylmer (20) and Manas Bansal (10 no) also supported Joel who batted the full 50 overs to finish on a remarkable 211 not out as the score reached a monumental 3 for 325 after 50 overs. A double century in any form of the game is a great achievement but Joel’s effort in a limited over match and in an innings when he scored only 52 runs in boundaries was a feat of great patience, determination, skill, and perseverance.  Early wickets to the bowlers including the first ball of the home team’s innings from Jesse Mansbridge (4-21 from 10 overs) provided a strong start. Some dropped catches took the shine off the effort before St Gregory’s were bowled out in 39.2 overs on 107. Oli Freeman, Lachlan Jursevic (2), Darcy Aylmer, Victor Mosmann, Joel Austin, and Mansa Bansal all took catches. Flynn Pavely (1-6 off 5 overs), Mitch McGrath (1-15), Andrew May (1-13) and Manas Bansal (3-37) also captured wickets to secure the victory that will always be remembered for a superb innings from Joel Austin who led from the front.

NSTA Tennis

What amazing weather we had for tennis last Saturday. The 8.00 am games started with a bang with SPX winning all 8 matches! SPX 17 was the standout of the day winning all 3 sets to Redlands 17. Thanks must be given to Ethan Auer, James Higgins, Luke Mortimer, Yuri Kim and Matthew Lee for umpiring and mentoring.

The 10.00 am matches started with a blast! SPX 16 – Will Fiore and Lachlan Yu, dominated the court against Redlands 16 winning 18 games to 1. Ollie Johnston and Antony Autore, SPX 9, also proved that they were a force to be reckoned with winning all 3 sets. Cooper and Spencer Anderson were also out to win against Redlands 7 with a final score of 18 games to 5.

Thank you once again to Mrs Keighery, Mr Webster and Mr Listo who did a wonderful job running the tennis at Talus St in my absence.

Please ensure that you are checking your weekly scores, rankings and draw on the xpoint site: https://www.xpointsports.com/region/325/currentEvents
