Mr Butts' Announcements
Noah Woods, Jayden Atkinson and Zar Thomas performing at the Mass of Healing.
Our Fire Carriers, Mrs Dyke and myself travelled to Nathalia last week to take part in the Goulburn Valley Mass of Healing during Reconciliation Week. It was a very powerful ceremony with hundreds of people attending. Some of our students took part as readers and carrying the message stick, but I was especially proud of Jayden, Noah and Zar who played the didgeridoo in the band. Well done boys!
Michael Chisolm from the Catholic Education led our Gr 3/4 students on a excursion around Shepparton last week. They visited the Rainbow Serpent, William Cooper's statue and the local murals of famous local Aboriginals.
Today the Gr 5/6's took part in the Festival of the Sacred performance in Kyabram. Many Catholic schools from around the GV took part in the concert which was prepared by members of the Victorian Performing Arts group.
Could all parents and carers please be mindful of car park safety and courtesy. We ask that cars only wait in a designated car park and that children are walked to cars with an adult. There have also been cars parking in the main exit which creates congestion. I appreciate your cooperation with this.
Our wonderful P&F have generously donated $5000 towards our new playgrounds which are due to be installed next term. We are lucky to have such a hard working P&F who not only raise much needed funds, but also organise so many fun activities and events for the kids.
Our Gr 5/6 families attended the Life Relationships evening last night to conclude the program which took place this term. Having open conversations with our children around relationships and adolescence, is crucial as the kids develop physically and emotionally. Research shows that children who can communicate freely and ask questions around this area make safer choices as they mature. Thank you to the teachers for organising the evening.
Thank you to the families who have donated goods and food to our St Vinnies appeal over the last few weeks. These items will be presented to Vinnies at our mass of compassion which is taking place on Friday at 9:45am.
Thank you to everyone for supporting our Book Fair that took place last week. From the sales our school was able to gain around $1000 worth of books for the library. Thank you to Maree Williams and Nerissa for organising this event.
This year Mons Peter is celebrating 60 years of being a priest. To celebrate this remarkable milestone we are having a special mass and morning tea at school on Friday 21st July at 9:30am. This is open to all school families and parishioners. A community celebration is taking part on Thursday 27th July, See below for details.
There has been a number of student covid-19 cases recently and to minimise update on isolation requirements. The Victorian Government recommends that a test is undertaken if symptoms are present. If a positive result is returned, it is recommended to isolate for at least 5 days and until symptoms are no longer present.
I appreciate your cooperation as we embark on the cold and flu season. For more information, visit the Corona virus information website
Week 7
Isaac Irwin
Isaac is our first Prep to win the Principal's award this year and he is an outstanding young person! He works hard in the classroom and is kind and respectful at all times. Thank you Isaac for being such a wonderful student!
Please note that next Friday 23rd of June is the last day of term and students will be dismissed early at 2:20pm.
My teacher once told me not to worry about spelling because autocorrect will fix mistakes for me. I am very grapefruit for this!
Q: Why did the student cross the playground?
A: To get to the other slide!
