NEWS & ADMINISTRATION

Mrs Caroline Galea

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Term 3.  This month we will see our Year 4 students take part in their first camp, while the Year 3 students will have a fun packed two day pre camp experience.  The Year 4 children will be travelling back in time to Sovereign Hill, where I know they will have an amazing time.  Toward the end of the term, the PFC will be holding their first ever whole school disco and our Father's Day Stall .  We will also be having  Grandparent's day, so make sure you read through the newsletter to get the latest information.

Possible Car Show

Next year, we would like to have a car show at Holy Name as something different.  We are asking for volunteers that would be interested in putting this event together to come together to form a committee, just for this event. The committee would be responsible for putting together a proposal, making enquiries, and generally organising and running the day.  If this is something that you might be interested in, could you please email me principal@hnpe.catholic.edu.au to express your interest in being part of this group.

School Disco

On Friday 25th August, the PFC will be holding the first Holy Name School Disco.  This is a wonderful opportunity for children in any level to come back to school from 5:00-7:00 pm and have a bit of fun.

Tickets must be purchased for this event and will be on sale at the school office from next Monday 24th July.

You can pay by cash, eftpos or credit card only (either in person or over the phone).

Ticket price per student of $15 includes:

*entry

*one slice of Margherita pizza

*one juice box

*one glow stick

Extra slices of Margherita Pizza and juice boxes will be available for sale along with popcorn and lolly bags (prices to be advertised closer to the event).

While there will be parents supervising this event, other parents are asked to sign in their child and leave.  We discourage children from bringing mobile phones . If they must be brought to the disco, they will be placed in a snap lock bag with your child's name for safekeeping. Tickets go on sale on MONDAY.

Second Hand Long Sleeve Polos for Sale

We have some very good quality long sleeve polos (size 12 & 14) for sale at the office - cost $3 each - cash only.   Either come by the office or send money with your child.

Art Room Donations

This term in Art, students are exploring sculpture and printmaking.  We would love some recycled materials to make our art, if you have any of the following at home:

  • Small cardboard boxes (shoe boxes, tissue box, toothpaste box etc)
  • Small cardboard tubes (not toilet rolls)
  • Plastic containers (yoghurt etc)
  • Small plastic jars
  • Lids of any size

Next week, the Grade 1/2s will also be looking at Indigenous artist Judy Watson and her prints. They will be doing monoprints of native leaves.  If anyone has any native plants in their gardens, which have interesting leaves, we would love some to use in our art.

Any donations will be appreciated and can be brought to the Art Room next week.

Lost Property Basket

The basket is overflowing with expensive uniform items, mainly woollen jumpers, windcheaters (& even jackets) with no names or names of children long gone from the school.  We return as many items to their owners as we can, but if parents don't name or rename the pieces, there's nothing we can do.

If your child has lost a uniform item, please come and look through the basket in the office corridor, take your item and don't forget to name it.

Plenty Road Crossing Supervisor

Rosalie (supervisor) has asked that we let the school community know that she will not be resuming her supervisor position from Term 3.
