Maths Information for Parents

Semester 1 2023

Dear Parents & Carers,

As you would be aware from reading the newsletter, we have introduced a Mathematics program called PR1ME. This is a world-class program based on the highly effective teaching and learning approaches and linked with the Australian Curriculum, designed to embed a deep understanding of Mathematical concepts. This also supports our school’s direction of Explicit Direct Instruction.

This semester the program has focussed heavily on Number & Algebra so that our students are becoming more proficient in this area to set them up for success with all the other areas of Mathematics. The areas of Measurement & Geometry and Statistics & Probability have been taught briefly, and will have more of a focus in Semester 2.

As a result of the heavy focus on Number & Algebra, teachers may not have been able to move student progression points with Measurement & Geometry and Statistics & Probability.

We encourage you to speak with your child’s teacher if you have any questions about this.

Kind regards

Kimberley McSweeney
