Principal's Report

Issue No 19 - 21 June 2023

Term 2 - Week 9

School Athletics

Last Friday our grade 3 to 6 students in the school participated in the School Athletics Carnival held at the LaTrobe Athletics Track. We were blessed with a glorious day and the students are to be congratulated for the fantastic way they tried their best, supported other students and had fun in all of the events of the day. Whilst the focus of the day was about fun, participation and effort, the students were competing for valuable points for their house. The results of the day will be announced at Friday’s assembly. A special thank you goes to Mrs Alana Vaughan for organising such a successful, fun and inclusive carnival.  A special congratulations also goes to those students who qualified to compete in the Catholic Athletics Carnival.  The grade prep to 2 students will have an opportunity to participate in an athletics style event next term.

Division Soccer

Today our students from the senior unit will be participating in the rescheduled Division Soccer tournament. We wish the students well.

Friday Assembly

Our next assembly will be showcasing 1SW/SE on Friday 23rd June. Assembly will take place in the school hall and we invite the parents of 1SW/SE to attend.  We will start promptly at 2pm.

Student Semester 1 Reports

Over the past week the staff have been gathering information about each student’s learning so they can accurately report on the current progression of their learning. This has taken the form of conducting some summative testing as well as collecting student data collected throughout the semester. The student reports will be a summation of the students’ learning in the first Semester of 2023. Reports will be made available to families on SIMON in the last week of the term.

Early next term, Tuesday 25th July, Wednesday 26th July and Tuesday 1st August, the staff will conduct 3-Way Conversations with all families, so they get the opportunity to discuss each student’s learning for Semester 1 and to set new learning goals for the remainder of the year.

Pupil Free Day

Pupil Free day - Monday 17th July.  The staff will be engaging in a Professional Development day with Toni Hatten-Roberts focusing on the learning and teaching in mathematics.

End of Term

A reminder that the school term 2 concludes at 2:30pm this Friday. I would like to wish everyone a wonderful restful time during the school holidays whatever you plan to do. Term 3 begins on Monday 10th July 2023.

Feast Day

Wednesday 12th July, the school will be celebrating the St Kilian’s Feast Day.  Although the feast day officially falls in the school holidays (8th July), as a school we thought it is important to celebrate ‘who we are’ by honouring our Patron Saint, Saint Kilian.  On Wednesday the 12th students are invited to wear casual clothes in their house colours.  We will celebrate with a mass followed by some fun activities in our house groups.

God Bless
