Principal's message

Feast of the Sacred Heart 16th June.

Jesus’ Sacred Heart shows us how we should love.

Lord, fill our hearts with the spirit of your love so that we may

                  love you by loving others.

Amen

Feast of the Sacred Heart 16th June.

The St. Patrick’s Conference of the Wangaratta St. Vincent de Paul Society needs our support for its Winter Appeal. They are in desperate need of new blankets and monetary donations for purchasing blankets.Their store of blankets is already depleted with the worst of winter still to come.

There are many people in our community who are feeling cold, lost and alone, they don’t have the basic necessities of life. We need to help.

So that we can understand more deeply the plight of these people, the heaters will be switched off at St Bernard’s on Wednesday, 14th June between 9:00 and 1:00pm. We don’t want anyone to freeze so we are asking teachers and students to wrap up to keep warm.  Everyone can wear another layer to help keep the warmth in.

We hope that not only will the experience help people empathize with the most vulnerable people in our community but that it will also help us all to realize the importance of that extra layer and the difference a blanket can make.

We also invite everyone to  wear  a touch of red on Friday 16th June for the Feast of the Sacred Heart and bring in a monetary donation for the St. Vincent de Paul Society to buy blankets. At 10.00am we will gather for a liturgy to celebrate the feast day.  All are welcome.

We have a basket in the foyer  where donations of blankets can be placed.

Our children can be the face of Jesus for so many, simply by participating in our awareness raising day without heaters, and by wearing a touch of red for Feast of the Sacred Heart and bringing in a donation of money or blanket or both.

Monday 12th King’s Birthday Holiday

We remind parents that next Monday 12th June is a holiday for the King’s birthday, there is no school on this day.

Reports

Your child’s report on the first semester of learning will be sent home electronically to all parents via PAM (Parent Access Module) on Tuesday 20th June.

Wet weather and pick up

The gate at the driveway into school in Skehan Ave opens at 3.00pm. When there is wet weather cars often build up in Skehan Ave.

Children are not dismissed until 3.20, therefore regardless of the time, you will be in a queue until at least 3.20 when the children are dismissed and the cars begin to depart from our school.

Those who choose to arrive for pick up particularly early will find themselves waiting for a long time and may find themselves banked up in Skehan Ave until the queue starts to move.

We ask for all parents to observe the signs in the drop off zone.  The teacher's role when on duty is to ensure the safety of the children at drop off, not to enforce the car park protocols.

We thank everyone for helping our school and drop off area to be a safe place for our  children.

Have a great week, everyone!
