It’s felt much quieter around the College these past weeks with Country Week at the end of last term and Year 11s currently away on North West Tour. It’s been a great opportunity to work on some proactive activities. Coming up we have a bushfoods around the fire event for NAIDOC week, National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence, and the Student Services and Wellbeing Team will have a display and competition at the College Open Day.

Year 12s are being encouraged to be really focused and seek help to complete their studies as they come into the home straight of twelve years of formal primary and secondary education. It’s a major milestone and an end to one era, and the beginning of ‘adulting’ with all the challenges and rewards this brings. On Connect we have many tips for Leaving High School and links and instructions for completing personal documents (MyGov, Medicare, tax returns, resumes, bank accounts, superannuation) and links to advice on pathway planning (budgeting, finance, study and work options, FairWork rights) and many other topics.

Many students are also encouraged to register with Headspace which has physical offices and one-on-one mental health services. eHeadspace is a national online or phone mental health support service for young people aged 12 to 25, and for family who are seeking support about how to help a young person. This provides continuity for students who have been accessing the school Wellbeing services and a backup for people to use in times of need. We are happy to assist with referrals to Headspace for anyone who would like this. For more information click on the link below.

Stay safe.
