Rural educational excellence through innovation, passion and collaboration

We acknowledge this is Nyoongar Ballardong Country

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to Term 3! It is hard to believe we are halfway through the school year and that our General Pathway Year 12s only have this term remaining. This term is bound to go by quickly, and I encourage our Year 12s to maintain the following principles:

  • Maintain school attendance
  • Be organised and utilise your time productively
  • Track your own progress and seek assistance from staff when necessary
  • Maintain a positive mindset

You've almost successfully completed 13+ years of schooling. Enjoy the remaining time you have at school with your friends before transitioning into the real world (and all of the responsibilities that come with that). We are here to support you all the way to the end!

North West Tour

I am privileged to be accompanying our Year 11s on this year's tour. We have covered quite a lot of territory and had many memorable experiences. I must commend our students for being fantastic ambassadors of our College and overall, it has been an absolute pleasure. A huge thank you to Kristine Van for planning and coordinating this epic adventure, and to Melissa Arnott and Kelly Whisson, from the residential front office for all of the time they also put into the planning.

WA Competition Shearing Association (WACSA) Training Day - Saturday 5 August 2023

We look forward to again hosting the WACSA shearing, wool handling and grinding training workshop.

This is open to the wider community and is a great opportunity for all novice shearers and people interested learning to judge shearing or woolhandling to attend. I also encourage any interested students to stay in on this weekend and participate.

Harvester Set-Up Workshop - Friday 22 September 2023

On the last Friday of Term 3 we are hosting a Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Harvester Set-Up Workshop here at the College.

This is also a community event and we encourage interested parents to come along and hear from industry experts and local growers on the integration of harvest weed seed control (HWSC) options, harvester fire prevention, accurate measurement / management of harvest losses and harvest storage.

Open Day

We are busily preparing for this year's Open Day which is set to be bigger and better than ever with industry, education and prospective employers also exhibiting on the day.

I encourage current parents to come along on the day, to gain a deeper insight into the programs and learning opportunities our students have while at the College and to also network with industry representatives who will be exhibiting on the day. Likewise, I encourage our students to take the time to speak with exhibitors and prospective employers who are very keen to make connections with our highly regarded students.

There is a great article about our upcoming Open Day in a recent Farm Weekly edition which you can access via the link below.
