Winter Sports - Football
How quickly it comes around each year. Unlike last year we were unable to have our players meet and train together so upon arrival at Coughlin Park it was a quick get to know you before the first game. Fortunately, through our
cluster partnership with Balmoral and Goroke and obvious local connections form EAFC we were not flying totally blind.
Under the tutelage of Dave McLeish and the umpiring of Chris White we gelled together and outperformed Lutheran and St. Michael’s convincingly. For the second year running, we made it through to the Grand Final, and unfortunately came up short again, but credit where credit is due. We went down to Horsham West who have 600+ students to pick from, and as we know, football is a numbers game. The Kowree players certainly held it up to the Horsham West players but were overrun in the end. As a matter of interest, there are only Horsham teams that have taken home the shield.
The players were magnificent all day and should be congratulated on not only their performance, but how they represented themselves and respective schools. Big thank you to Chris White who always puts his hand up to support through umpiring and other.

Winter Sports - 5/6 Netball
5/6 Netball – went for a day of netball to enjoy, not competitive. They joined with St Malachy’s, Balmoral, Apsley and Goroke to make up 3 mixed teams. They each played 5 games with 2 halves to each game. All the girls did an amazing job but were exhausted by the end of the day.
9-10 Netball - Horsham
The Year 9/10 Netball in Horsham, won all 3 games and continued on to Ballarat a couple weeks later where they won their first game, lost their second games and unfortunately lost in the semi finals.
Overall the girls had a great day out!
GWR Year 7/8 Netball
The Year 7/8 Netball team won all of their games in Horsham and will continue on to Ballarat next Wednesday. We wish the girls the very best of luck.
