Boundless Melbourne Work Experience Camp
At the time of going to print I am unable to confirm the successful applicants for the Melbourne Work Experience Camp in the week May 1st – 5th. Arrangement forms, camp permission and medical forms will be distributed in the next few days to those successful.
Boundless, a not-for-profit organisation, have been sourcing work placements and organising this camp for the Alliance schools. The cost of the camp will be approximately $160. Families who qualify for a healthcare card may use their Victorian Government Camp and Excursion funding to pay for this. Students will stay with supervising teachers in hostel style accommodation, Melbourne Discovery, in the CBD and commute to their place of work via public transport. Most students will be in workplaces with one or more other students. All students will either initially be accompanied to their place of work by a teacher or at least shown how to get there.

Are you (currently) seeking a job?
Are you a student who is currently looking for part-time or casual employment? What can you do to make yourself more employable?
Employers want people who will add value to their business. They want people who will be reliable, trustworthy, well presented, enthusiastic, keen to learn new skills, work well in a team and be effective communicators.
I haven’t met too many people who don’t think that these things describe them. However, that's not enough, you need to be able to provide evidence. Usually the resume and your referees will be part of that evidence. So what can you do to build this evidence?
- look for opportunities to volunteer. Volunteering helps build your network of contacts, skills and confidence.
- be the best advertisement of you that you can be so that employers, teachers and others will always provide evidence to support you. Be well presented
- have a resume that provides a great 1st impression – well written and proof read.

Applying for Art & Design courses that require a folio or pre-selection kit?
LEAP have prepared a helpful video that shows how folios are used in the selection of students and what you can do to be better prepared. https://www.leap.vic.edu.au/vimeo.com/video/92697865
Have you considered a career in construction (not just carpentry!)
There are many occupations within the construction industry. Everything from drain laying to floor finishing to cartography (mapping) to surveying. Look outside the square from electrical, plumbing and carpentry to ensure you are assessing all of your options. Alternatives to Physiotherapy
Interested in sports physiotherapy? Have you considered clinical exercise physiology as being a more suitable pathway than physiotherapy? “Where physiotherapists assist people with movement disorders using techniques to assist muscles and joints to move to their full potential, clinical exercise physiologists use exercise to prevent and rehabilitate disease and injury in the community”. Deakin University has released a fantastic video giving an overview of their clinical exercise Master program- http://tinyurl.com/lrnarcu
