Some of the Year 7 classes have been including activities more often seen on TV than in the classroom. One such activity was to consolidate student understanding of the types of angles, such as acute, obtuse, right and straight angles. In groups of four to five, students were required to make each angle using their bodies by lying on the ground. The students enjoyed this activity, as they were able to move around the room and be active.

The Salary Problem

You are offered the following proposition:

You are to work for 30 days.

On the first day, you will be paid a cent.

On the second day, you will be paid 2 cents.

On the third day, you will be paid 4 cents.

On the fifth day, you will be paid 8 cents.

How much would you make for the thirty days?
