Principal's Report

Dear Parents,
I begin by saying this has to be the saddest time for our world. It is something none of us have ever experienced in our life time. The last time the world experienced such tragedy was the Spanish Flue epidemic of 1918. Contacting relatives in Italy has been heartbreaking for my family. There is much panic, anxiety stress and worry in Italy and throughout the world. My relatives tell me we are very silly as a country because we should have shut down weeks ago and the best thing we can do is to stay home for the entire two weeks. No play dates, no holiday catch ups please. My message to all of you is to avoid travel and stay home. I want my school community to know that we the staff of St. Mary's continue to pray for us all and we want to thank you for the love and support many of you have shown.
The term ends today 23 March and at this stage we will return on Wednesday the 15 April. Please do not ask teachers for 'extra work' during the holidays. In the 39 years of my educational career, we have never provided work for the school holidays and this year is no exception. We will provide some form of online learning should the school remain closed in Term 2. We are well prepared for this.
Congratulations to Olivia Kairouz, Jamie Shaheen, Mia Matijevic, Jake Freeman and Elias Tsangaris who have been elected by their peers as the Sustainability Team under the leadership of Francesca Bonelli.
Our School Office will remain open until Thursday 26 March 3.30pm.
Please try and have a good break, its hard for me to wish you happy holidays. However, what I do wish you is a very happy Easter and may the love of the Risen Lord be with you during this difficult time.
Regards
Dino
