YEAR 7, 8 & 9 ATHLETICS

Congratulations to all the Year 7, 8 & 9 students for their behaviour and participation at the recent school Athletics sports held at Aberfeldie track. The track manager actually commented that it was the best behaved group of students he had dealt with this year. It certainly was a hectic day as we got through all the events as well as dealing with the cold conditions and a few showers throughout the day.

Special congratulations to the following students who were the top athletes for 2016:

Year 7: Girls 1st Jade Lewicki (Green), 2nd Ines Spedding-Siu (Blue) Boys 1st Joe Perry (Blue),  2nd Aster Frost (Yellow)

Year 8: Girls 1st Jasmine Russell (Green) = 2nd Thea Bosco (Red) & Isobel Robertson (Green);   Boys 1st Chris Doherty (Red),  2nd Otto Crawford (Red)

Year 9: Girls 1st Lauren McMahon (Green), 2nd Molly Roberts (Red), Boys 1st Jude Macquire (Blue), 2nd Jackson Groves-Koeleman (Yellow)

The overall final results were as follows:

1st Green 707 pts, 2nd Red 668, 3rd Yellow 594 & 4th Blue 463

Also, thanks to all staff & students who assisted on the day.

All the winners will now go onto represent the school at the Interschool competition in early September.

STATE ROWING FINALS

Rowing is not an official State School Sport Victoria event. However, a number of our boys competed as Footscray City College against a number of private schools at the State Rowing Finals held late last term.  Patrick Doherty, Sam Wilson, Brooklyn Bellin and Alex Wilson did very well with Patrick winning his Singles division final and going on to compete at the National Championships in Sydney in the last holidays. Well done boys!

INTERSCHOOL SPORT WINNERS

There has been a large number of inter-school competition results decided recently. Both our Intermediate Girls and Senior Boys Cricket teams were successful last term as well as our Year 7 Boys Baseball and Tennis and Year 7 Girls Softball teams and will now go onto Western Regional finals early in Term 4. In the last couple of weeks our Senior Boys Tennis (WMR Runners-Up) travelled down to Geelong to compete in Regional finals after winning their district play offs earlier this year. The Senior Boys Badminton team also won our district competition recently and will play the WMR final in August. All teams did our school proud both with their results and their sporting behaviour.
