LIBRARY NEWS

Scholastic Book Club

Last week the first Book Club for the year went home and is due back on WEDNESDAY 21/3/18.  If you could return your order with your child before this date, we can ensure they don’t miss out.  It can take up to two weeks for the books to arrive once ordered. Please note that Book Club is optional but if you would like another catalogue, please let me know and I can send one home.

New Books

As a commitment to ensuring contemporary and vibrant libraries in our Diocese, the Armidale Catholic Schools Office regularly send out new books to every school. Last week we received more great titles that I have been showing the children during their library time. We are so lucky to have this service and our students are always excited about new additions. I have included some photos of some of the new arrivals.

Ebooks

Did you know that HTS also has access to a great collection of ebooks through Overdrive? This week in library time our older students are learning how to access this service, search for a title and borrow an ebook.  There are many books there that we do not have in our physical library, so this is a wonderful resource that can be accessed anywhere and anytime (even the holidays!)

Quick Picks!

This week I’ve started asking students for their book recommendations and we begin with K-2. Bethany and Oliver chose books they enjoyed because they were funny. Oliver laughed so much when he was telling the class his favourite part of ‘I Am So Strong’ by Mario Ramos, he couldn’t even get the words out! Bethany also enjoyed reading ‘Diary of a Wombat’ by Jackie French after learning about wombats during library time.
