Performing Arts News

Term 4

As the year winds to a close, the Performing Arts department is still going strong! We are proud of the dedication and commitment our students show towards their craft.

On Friday, 15 November, 20 excited students attended a performance of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. One of the world’s pre-eminent physicists, Professor Brian Cox, took to the stage for the first time with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in this special event. Students were whisked through space and time as Professor Cox took us through the human struggle against our finite existence in an infinite universe. All those in attendance we awestruck with this amazing performance.

Early in the month, our wonderful stage band were once again asked to entertain the crowds at the Bonbeach Farmers Market.  And entertain they did! They had feet tapping and hands clapping on a beautiful Sunday morning. It is wonderful to have our students out and about playing at community events such as this.

Community Morning Tea with Peta Murphy MP.

The Year 8 Concert Band delighted over 150 members of our Community with a performance and the Community Morning Tea.

There was dancing, singing and clapping as the band played their way through 30 minutes of fun-filled music.

Congratulations to the entire band on their amazing growth throughout the year. They have worked together to achieve a high standard and along the way have developed friendships that will last throughout their years at Patterson River.

We look forward to hearing their progress as they graduate to the Senior Concert Band in 2020.

The year 8 Concert Band were delighted to enjoy a visit from Santa at their last rehearsal for the year. Santa must have heard the beautiful sounds of “Jingle Bells” resonating through the halls.

We look forward to an exciting year ahead of Music Making.
