Year 7 Tchoukball Tournament

During Term 4, all Year 7 Sport Education students were involved in a Tchoukball tournament. This year the Year 10 EXCEL Sport students coached and umpired all games. Throughout the tournament the Year 7 students were provided with the opportunity to display some exceptional athleticism, strategic play and skill. It was the perfect opportunity for form groups to unite as a team and demonstrate respect and fair play.

The Grand Final was played on Tuesday,  November 12. In the first match, an all-stars team (comprised of 2 nominated students from each form group) played against the teachers. The all-stars team approached the match with a lot of energy and determination, however, with exceptional skill (and maybe a height advantage), the teachers won easily 10-3.

Next up, the Year 7 EXCEL Sport students took on the teachers. For years the students have been trying to win against the teachers and this was their opportunity as the teachers weren’t as fresh as the EXCEL Sport students were! Whether it be that height advantage or skill, the teachers again won easily 8-3!

Throughout the tournament, all form groups in Year 7 tried hard to conquer each other and progress to the Grand Final. All the training and preparation paid off for Mr Mills and Mrs Ford when their classes finished on top of the ladder and as a result, faced each other in the Grand Final. Both teams played extremely well and are to be congratulated on making the finals, but 7C’s fast pace, accurate passing and exceptional team work helped them secure a win of 3-2 on the day. Thank you to Ms Foster and Mr Cook who were the official umpires and also to Mr Metaxas, our DJ  who set the mood right with some motivating and energising music.

Thank you to all Year 7 Sport Education teachers who have been amazing coaches to our Year 7 students over the past year.  Thankyou also to the Year 10 EXCEL Sport students for giving up their Tuesday afternoons to be brilliant coaches and role models to the Year 7s. It has been a very successful and enjoyable year and I encourage all students to continue their involvement in Inter-School Sport in Year 8.
