I hope this newsletter finds you all in good health and looking forward to the break from the College routine. As the semester comes to a close, it is a perfect opportunity to reflect on all our students have been involved in and what they have achieved.
Semester 1 reports have now been completed and will be available for you to read later this week. These reports provide an opportunity for students to gauge their progress and identify areas that require additional focus. The reports also have Learning and Wellbeing goals and we encourage you to look at your child’s goals and discuss why they set these as goals and what progress they have made working towards them. Whether it is in areas of learning or wellbeing, it is important for all students to create a study routine, seek help from their teachers when needed, and make use of all available resources to perform their best.
It is important to make well-being a priority and school holidays can pose additional challenges for some. The three critical factors for good mental health are sleep, diet and exercise. It is important to keep a balanced sleep routine, practice healthy eating habits and engage in regular physical activity. Sometimes, even with these things being well managed we can face roadblocks and it is important to seek help when needed. The graphic below outlines some of the services that are available.
The Wellbeing for Learning Survey is designed to inform the College of ever-changing influencing factors that impact student readiness and ability to learn at school. The students completed a baseline survey in term 1 and throughout term 2 have been participating in weekly check-ins, over a 5 week period. The domains of Belonging, Resilience and Safety are the focus areas.
A report of the observations made from the information gathered has been prepared and the Pastoral team will be breaking down the results for each year level to ensure student wellbeing is supported to provide the most favourable conditions for learning. In term 3 we will look at how we can further support our students in the focus domains.
As always, I would like to express my appreciation to the Marian community for your support. Working together, we can create an environment for our students that nurtures wellbeing, encourages resilience and growth and fosters individual academic goals.
I hope your holiday period is restful and allows an opportunity to refresh and recharge.
