On The Road...

...Well maybe 'In the paddock' would be closer to the truth. 

This term our year 10 students have participated in a new initiative from Vic Roads to increase road safety.  The program included an in school lesson to address the high incident statistics amongst young people.  On Thursday our students were bussed to METEC where there is 5km of private closed roads, including traffic features like intersections, traffic lights and roundabouts to provide an ideal learner training facility.   Students  were assigned to a driving instructor in groups of 3 for an hour lesson.

"The lesson allowed me to understand the mechanics of a car and become more comfortable behind the wheel."

"The fact that the driving range was private made what was for the majority, the first time in control of a car less stressful.  Our instructor made things easy to understand and I felt, ultimately safe in a situation that can be made unsafe easily."

"I really enjoyed today's driving experience it was a great opportunity to get some experience I recently got my learners so I got to count today's driving toward my log book.  It was great to drive with an instructor in the car with me also with some of my mates just nice to see where they are at with their hours, all up it was a really fun day."

"Today, the excursion to METEC was really good experience for people who had never had any experience driving before.  The instructors were really kind and supportive for the nervous people and really informative for the more comfortable people.  No matter if you went in nervous, comfortable, confident or overconfident everyone had a great time."
