The Year 3 students will be working on problem solving activities this term. We start our lesson with some number work, quick problems and Esti-mysteries. These activities have promoted good mathematical discussion and improved the students ability to perform number related tasks with more speed and accuracy. We will focus on a number of strategies to solve a problem including drawing a diagram, making a model and creating a table.
The Year 2 students are consolidating their mental strategies for addition through the use of the split, jump, bridging and compensation methods. We start our lesson with an Esti-mystery to help develop our understanding of number.
