Principal's

Report

 Ms Jodi Niedermayer

Dear Parents, Carers, students and community,

I hope all our families had an enjoyable long weekend and were able to enjoy the lovely weather and extra time off. I can’t believe it is already Week 8, with only 3 weeks remaining for Semester 2.

Athletics Carnival

This week we held our Athletics Carnival for our students in K-6. This was the first whole school carnival we have been able to hold in quite some time, especially with the pandemic putting so many restrictions upon us. It is important to note that the addition of K-2 students to this event was raised at a P&C meeting; a great demonstration of the role our P&C play in our school decision making processes.

It was such a lovely day; the weather was perfect and such fun, determination and sportsmanship was shown. Congratulations to all of our students for participating and also to those who will go on to represent our school at the next level. It was so great to see the great number of families and community members join us for the day, to cheer on students and support this event. Thank you for your continued support of our school, staff and students.

Thank you to Sarah, the P&C and all the volunteers for their fabulous catering on the day. An event like this takes hours of preparation, ordering and coordination prior to the day, as well as people on the day to cook and serve. Our school and our community appreciate your commitment to our school.

Thank you to Crystal and Josh Woll for their time and expertise in running and recording the track events. Thank you to Katie Dent and the Albion Park Little Athletics for their support with equipment, setting up and providing the canteen facility. We really appreciate your commitment to our school. The students from Albion Park High School should also be congratulated on the way they represented their school and thanked for their support of our school.

I would also like to acknowledge Miss Ford, Miss Walker-Lau and Mrs Wigny for their planning and organisation and to all staff across the school, including our administration staff. It is a whole team effort to organise and run an event of this size.

Pedestrian Crossing

As you will have noticed, the pedestrian crossing on Wentworth St is now complete, with our community now able to access this street. The gate on Wentworth Street will be again open of a morning and afternoon.

Spring Festival

The wonderful P&C, in partnership with the school, will be holding a Spring Festival in September. With plans already underway, this is set to be an exciting community event. If you or someone you know has a business, a talent or a connection that may support this event in any way, please contact the school or the P&C. This could be a special talent in face painting, a business that could contribute prizes for various stalls or donations of lollies, hair spray, etc, or any other fun festival connects. Any support would be greatly appreciated.

P&C Meeting

Please join us in the school library on Wednesday, 28 June for our next P&C meeting. We would love to see you there if you can make it.

Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) Meeting

The next AECG meeting will be held this afternoon, at Mount Warrigal Public School, starting at 4pm. Our school always has several staff attend to represent our school, to learn together and to further enhance our partnership.

Student Reports

Partnership in learning is an important component to supporting student learning. In the final week of this term, students will receive their Semester 1 Report, where teachers provide information on each child in relation to effort and achievement in each Key Learning Area (English, mathematics, history/geography, Science and Technology, PDHPE, and CAPA). If you have any questions or require any further information, like always, please contact your child’s teacher.

Back to School Vouchers

The Services NSW Back to School Vouchers expire at the end of this month. If you have any remaining vouchers, these can be used to purchase uniforms, pay for upcoming excursion or pay any remaining fees. Please contact the office for further information.

End of Term 2

Term 2 concludes on Friday, 30 June for our 2-week school holiday period. Our students return to school on Tuesday, 18 July 2023. Our staff will be involved in specific professional learning the day prior to our students returning.

Kind regards

Jodi Niedermayer
