Play in a Day

There have been numerous events happening in the Secondary School during the term. Inter-House Cross Country, Tomorrow Man Tomorrow Women workshops, Biology excursion to Perth Zoo, Psychology students demonstrating activities with our junior students, Drama excursion to Crown Theatre to watch 'Come From Away' and many more. The selection of photos provide a snapshot of some of these events.

Play in a Day

One of the most recent events was the 'Play in a Day' incursion. Miss Thomas has provided an insight into this event:

On the Friday 12 May, 30 students from Year 7  to 12 gathered in the Williamson Theatre to devise a short 15 minute play. Students were assigned their teams for the day and were given a prop (an extendable microfibre duster). Each team broke off and spent the morning brainstorming and writing their scripts, coming up with creative and unique ideas to perform.

Throughout the afternoon each team took turns on the stage to rehearse their plays, practicing with all the technical elements. During the evening, the students performed the play they had created that day in front of a live audience.

All teams performed spectacularly, with the duster prop becoming microphones, plumbing equipment, fairy wands and a TV antennae. The audience was also treated to improvisation performances, including Mad Libs Theatre, and a special performance with a very confused Sherlock and Watson trying to solve a crime while the audience kept trying to change their minds.

Our special guest judges, Mr and Mrs Rogerson, chose the performance of Squeal, a parody of scary camping movies, as the overall winners of the night.

The quality of performances was top notch and demonstrated the humour and creativity of our students. Congratulations to all students who participated in the event, both onstage and backstage, for sharing your skills and talents in the Performing Arts.
