Kindergarten Mother's Day Morning Tea

Head of Primary, Tracey Rogers

The most outstanding thing I have observed so far this term is students demonstrating our core value of honesty. From being a principled learner, to taking responsibility for good and poor choices, to openly and honestly discussing big emotions, I have been so incredibly proud of our students for their demonstration of good character. Many of the gratitude certificates being posted also reflect that students, parents and educators are seeing this and other qualities that help us sustain our caring community.

Next week, On Friday 26 May, we have a wonderful Primary Assembly planned by our Year 3 cohort under the leadership of Mrs Zecca and Mrs Medway. As mentioned earlier this term, Mrs Brown will be in attendance so that the student body can farewell her personally. If you would like to share a message of appreciation for Mrs Brown, you are more than welcome to do so personally at the conclusion of the Assembly, or if unable to attend, send a card or complete a Gratitude Certificate and deliver this to Primary Reception.

Swimming Lessons

Our Pre-Primary to Year 2 students enjoyed two weeks of swimming lessons earlier this term. The opportunity to improve swimming skills also provides students experience in self-management and organisation of themselves and their belongings. There were many students who achieved personal goals throughout lessons this year and we are proud of their achievements!

Exhibition

Our Year 6 Team has been working hard on getting their Exhibition journey underway this term. With an emphasis on process over product the Exhibition allows students to demonstrate how far they have come in their learning journey. A rite of passage for our Year 6 cohort, it presents a rigorous challenge, and we look forward to seeing their learning and action over the coming terms. My thanks to the parents and community members who have participated as guest speakers, inspiring our students and giving them ‘food for thought’.

Parent Coffee Mornings

On Tuesday 9 May we had a Parent Coffee Morning at Chalk Café in the Technology Building here at school. It is always wonderful to hear from parents about the aspects of school life that are really working well and discuss some of the things that challenge us as parents, educators or as a wider community. The food is delicious too!

Our next Coffee Morning is on Tuesday 13 June, at 8.45am. In response to parent queries, Early Years Coordinator Melissa Cuming, will be sharing insights into how reading develops and key strategies parents can use at home to support their learner.

ELC Mothers’ Day Morning

On Monday 15 May, parents, grandmothers, students and staff in Kindergarten to Year 1 enjoyed a wonderful morning celebrating Mothers’ Day. The sunshine and calm weather conditions made for a great outdoor event with lots of activities across the ELC. Our Little Wollies students also hosted their Mums, Grandmothers and special guests for their own Mother’s Day events on a smaller scale. The photos probably tell the story best…

New ELC Carpark

Our new ELC carpark is up and running, and has been well received by our ELC families, students, staff and visiting guests. Our gratitude to Business Manager, Derek Heatherly, for his leadership of this project. Now that our carpark is operational, we would ask that families please respect the Church community next door and refrain from parking in their carpark.

Inspiration Day

Communication has already been sent home on behalf of our Class Representatives with details for our Inspiration Day next Friday 26 May. Please be sure to check SEQTA for this letter and encourage your child to get creative with their ideas. I know I did not have to look too far from home for who inspires me!

Take care.
