Highlights of the Week

Scienceworks Excursion

On Wednesday 31st May, Ms Lucy Reincke and Mr Steve Evans took a small group of students to special immersive workshop at Scienceworks. The workshop was designed to focus on a STEM design challenge with a human-centred approach to “designing a better world”.  Students and teachers had an opportunity to get hands-on with the technology materials to begin making and tinkering and prototyping physical solutions to real problems.   They also had an opportunity to Explore Scienceworks exhibits, as well as meet experts in science, design, health, and technology. Students heard from a Para-Olympian, medical and Bionics Institute researchers and had exclusive access to the Museums Science and Technology collections.

Scienceworks by Bethany, Jayden & Tom

Nine children from Holy Saviour had the opportunity to attend a Scienceworks workshop. We got to listen to Bree who was a Paralympian, talk about being in a wheelchair, which was inspirational.  The Holy Saviour students split in two groups. Tom, Bethany, Arthur and Liam were in 1 group and the other group was Zoe, Julia, Katie and Kataleya.  We got to build a working bal launching arm and a prototype that was mind reading dance legs. We got to visit the old water pumps from the olden days. We also got to play with and see all the science tech. It was lots of fun!
