Kitchen Garden

3/4R

Session 1

3/4R began their Kitchen Garden sessions today with an indoor session.

They continued decorating the table cloths with beautiful artwork, featuring lots of fruit and vegetables, watering cans, butterflies, worms, bees and a whole family of ladybug’s.

The students also had the opportunity to begin working on the Smoothie of the Imagination competition. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the completed creations.

Session 2

On Tuesday afternoon 3/4R had a great time in the kitchen garden displaying teamwork and perseverance as they worked through the activities.

We planted rows of lettuce, bok choy, spring onions, peas and spinach in one bed. In another, we planted broad beans and mustard seeds as a green manure.

The herb garden was a hive of activity with bulbs being planted, rhubarb being liquid fertilised and the citrus getting some slow release fertiliser.

We planted some oregano, thyme and salvia in the garden bed along the art room and filled the gaps in the potato patch with more potatoes.

Some students had a go at using secateurs to chop garden waste up before they put it into the compost bins, while others used spades to chop green pumpkins up for the compost.

A super productive day in the garden.

    Smoothie of the Imagination Competition

It's a 'Smoothie of the Imagination' competition being run by SAKGF AND Saputo Dairy Australia for world milk day on June 1.

Some really cool prizes to be won for our school. Anyone from our school can enter as we're a SAKGF member.

Details are on the bottom of the document.

Families are welcome to email the completed picture themselves, or bring it back to school to either Ellie Cuolahan or myself (Allesha) and we can submit them.
