Helping the Kitchen Garden
On Tuesday, the Hands on Learning team, Jimmy and James spread a fresh layer of chip mulch on the paths of the Kitchen Garden.
We complete this big job every autumn.
First, the top layer (which hasn’t fully decomposed) gets put around the base of the fruit trees.
Second, the base layer which is a rich brown colour and teaming with life is used as a top dressing for the garden beds.
And finally, once the paths are back to a soil base, the new mulch is spread about 5cm thick.
The garden paths look great (and neat), our shoes stay clean and as a bonus there’s a free soil resource to use.
Well done HOL team and thank you, Jimmy, for your help and patience in getting the job done so promptly.
