Soccer Gala Day

The Son

Last week we went to Soccer Gala Day at St John's. It was called the Paul Wade Cup, and we participated in it with many other schools.  Our school had one team, but we were pretty good because we worked as a team and were determined to give it everything.

I like soccer very much. My family help me to improve by giving me tips. My mum gives me nutritious food, and my dad and brother give me tips.  I play soccer four days a week. I train for three days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and have a Saturday match.

I love training because I learn and improve and try things out. Match Day is fun because we play against other teams. Even when we lose, we learn from our mistakes.

In photo 1, I am throwing the ball in. When the other team kicks the ball out of the sideline, the other team gets a throw into your teammates.

In photo 2, I am trying to get the ball.

In photo 3, I am using my speed to get the ball.

I felt a bit sad because we lost in the quarter-finals, but I felt proud that we made it that far. I felt good to be in our team and was especially proud of those who had never played because they were learning a new sport.  - Noah

Proud Father

I always wanted to play soccer with my kids. I used to play soccer in the backyard with my dad when I was young, so I have encouraged my boys to play soccer. When I watch Noah and his brother, I am proud and happy. They are motivated and enjoy the game.  I have been lucky with my boys, as they have had coaches like father figures. They have inspired my boys. They learn about sportsmanship and life skills.  - Hedley (Noah's dad)

The Game

There was some great action on the day.

Friends

Some people just liked hanging out with their friends.
