Principal's News

'Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power, but in character and goodness.'

Anne Frank

Dear Families

This Sunday is Pentecost. The word Pentecost is Greek and it means '50th day'. Fifty days after Easter Sunday, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and their followers, and the beginning of their Earthly ministry to make disciples of all nations. This day is considered the Church's birthday. So a big Happy birthday to the Catholic Church!

KEY INFORMATION

Canteen

Stir Crazy have been in contact and they have now managed to secure a person to oversee our canteen on a Friday. I look forward to meeting with them next week. Keep an eye out for further details.

Carpark

In the morning, there are vehicles that are stopping very short in our 'kiss and go' drop off lane, which is causing congestion at the entrance - please drive all the way through. Also, a reminder to please reverse park into our carparking spaces.

Illness

There has been an increase over the past couple of weeks of illness in students attending school. If your child is unwell, please keep them home until they are feeling better and do not have symtoms of illness. Our aim is to limit the spread of illness at school amongst students and staff. Please notify the school if your child is going to be absent.

Padua College

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of visiting Padua College Mornington. The principals from all three campuses were present, as well as, the principals from all feeder Catholic Primary Schools. The purpose of our gathering was to look at ways we can continue to build our partnership between our Catholic primary and secondary schools. It was an uplifting meeting and I look forward to seeing some of our ideas come to fruition. We also were given a tour of the school by two senior students, with the highlight being the newly opened Performing Arts Centre. It is simply incredible. Please click below for enrolment or school tours details.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Please note that our Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place in Week 1 of Term 3,  on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th July. These will be meetings between the parent/carer (s) and the teacher(s) to discuss the students achievement, growth and areas for improvement and hence the focus for Semester 2. Students are not required for these meetings, unless there is a component of it where both parties agree they should be.

Parish - St Vincent de Paul Blanket Appeal

Can you help? We are now entering the time of the year when it is becoming extremely cold. If you are able to donate clean doonas, blankets or sheets they would be very much appreciated for us to pass onto those in need. These items can be left in our church foyer.

Pilgrimage

For the last two weeks of Term 3, I will be heading on a pilgrimage with other principals from the Peninsula Principals Network. We will be walking the Camino, in Spain. The focus is on a deeper personal faith journey, regarding our own spirituality and our leadership within our faith communities. I am excited to have the opportunity to walk one of the oldest Christian pilgrimage routes and Iook forward to sharing parts of the journey with you.

Reconciliation

At the moment our Year 3 students are preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. They attended a Presentation Mass over the weekend and last night participated in the Family workshop. The Sacrament takes place on Wednesday 14th June. During this time, please keep these students in your prayers.

In concluding, make sure you check out the other pages in our newsletter to read about all the wonderful things that happen at our school.

Go gently and keep warm!
