Young Voices needed for the Commission for Children and Young People

The Commission for Children and Young People are committed to gathering, hearing and listening to the voices of children and young people to help shape future decision and policy-making.

They are currently seeking the voices of children and young people through an online survey and are keen to hear about their experiences and thoughts on the effects of COVID-19 on their mental health, education, safety, sense of certainty about the future and suggestions they may have about the future.

This will help the Commission advocate about the issues affecting them and share their perspectives with government and other decision-makers.

The survey can be accessed on the following link:

Creating a Child Safe Culture at SHPS

We are currently in the process of reviewing our Child Safe policies at Sunshine Heights PS. As part of this process, we are taking the time to reflect on how we create a Child Safe culture at our school, reviewing our current practice and building future steps to take to ensure that we are living and breathing the child safe standards, and that every child feels safe and supported at school.

A part of building a strong Child Safe culture is ensuring all of our families, parents, carers and community members - together with students, staff and teachers - know about the Child Safe standards and where and how to access information and support, so that we can all work together to nurture and enhance a Child Safe culture for all our kids.

Included below are some important links that can help you know and understand the standards and how to access information to keep your child safe -

Resilient Youth Resources for Parents & Families

This term, we partnered with Brimbank Youth Services to deliver the Resilient Youth Survey to our Grade 3-6 students, a survey designed by Resilient Youths Australia to empower students and educators, delivering powerful insights to create a Connected, Protected, Respected school culture.

Resilient Youths Australia has a wealth of free resources for parents on their websites to help facilitate our collective goal of building resilient youth and enhancing the wellbeing of our students. These resources have been written by a team of resilience experts to support parents in building resilience and enhancing the wellbeing.
