Do it for Dolly Day

On Friday 7 May, McLachlan House ran a House Charity event for the Dolly’s Dream charity. The aim of Dolly’s Dream is to raising awareness to prevent bullying. Dolly’s Dream created by the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, is a charity set up to care for children who have experienced or witnessed serious violence, bullying, cyberbullying or other safety and wellbeing risks.

A Mufti Day with gold coin donation (wear Blue and Country), $2 cake stall at recess and $2 sausage sizzle at lunchtime was organised to help raise money for the event. In addition to our fundraising activities, staff and students met on the oval to create a “DD” which was photographed from above.

Kinross Woloroi travelled to Blue Mountains Grammar to compete in Round Two of the HICES Debating Competition. They competed against Scots All Saints Bathurst, Blue Mountains Grammar and Macquarie Anglican Grammar Dubbo.

The topics for this debate centred around voting and democracy. Our students excelled in their knowledge of the Australian constitution and the rights and regulatory laws around the issue of elections. They were excellent ambassadors for the School in their presentation and the quality of their arguments.

All four Kinross Wolaroi Teams in attendance won their debates.

Year 12 Dean House raised a whopping $900 for Ronald McDonald House selling sausage sandwiches and snow cones at the Athletics Carnival. Great effort!

YEAR 8 Geography Fieldtrip - 7th May

The Year 8 Geographers travelled to the Blue Mountains as part of their Landscapes and Landforms topic. The weather was a little foggy and wet, which did not influence the students mood. The students were excellent and hiked with tremendous enthusiasm. It was a great way to end the week with a walk through the UNESCO World Heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park.
