Athletics Carnival

The Kinross Wolaroi Junior School Athletics Carnival was a wonderful opportunity to bring all of our students together and welcome parents into the school. I would like to warmly congratulate all students on their participation in this event.  The winning House on the day, in a very close finish, was Gordon House. In the coming weeks I will be submitting our Team to HICES, consisting of students who finished in the top two in their age group.

An event like this does not happen without a team effort over many days of planning, checking, consulting, and revising - no small task when you also add in a change of date. I would like to thank Mr Taylor and Mrs Charlton for their outstanding effort in developing the program for the day. A big thank you also goes to the Junior School staff who all played their part in communicating with students, following up on race entries, acting as race marshals, as place judges, as result recorders and as certificate writers, as well as personal cheer squads.

Hockey

Brumbies: The Brumbies played an amazing hockey match last Wednesday with Willa scoring the second goal of the season. Kinross Wolaroi played Cyms in a very hard and technical match. Charlotte Williams almost scored a goal, she was so close, but her concentration was so intense that the ball accidently hit her foot. Grace and Tom had incredible concentration, both passing to the other and surrounding team-mates. Emma was a great goalie, defending our team goal. It can be a tough time being goalie but Emma made it look easy. In the dying minutes of the game, a short corner saw the Brumbies unfortunately lose. Better luck next game, with the Brumbies playing two matches at 5:30 – 6:30 and 6:30 – 7:30. We will need a good night's sleep after that!

U9 Vipers: On Saturday 8 May we played Life Studio Nashies. We had a great game and won 8 – 1. It was our first win of the season. The whole team did a good job of spreading out and not holding the ball too long. We look forward to next week’s game.

U12 Kestrels: Sat 1 May: This week we played against Life Studio Nashies. It was a great game but sadly we lost. We are working better as a team and identifying our strengths to determine which position we are best at. Thank you, Mrs Seedsman and Hannah for coaching us.

Isabella Vangestel

Sat 8 May: This week in the under 12 Kestrels game we lost, although the team has improved immensely and showed wonderful teamwork. We all stayed in a familiar position which helped us a lot. This game was our best so far because we got a lot more goals than previously. Great job U12 Kestrels for your game weekend! I think next week will be even better after more training sessions.

Football

U9 Fury: Sat 1 May: Today the U9 Fury soccer team played the Waratah Titans. Fury were narrowly defeated with a score of 5-4. Daniel Hayward & Oscar Pigot scored goals and all our players did their best.

Jessica McGreal

U9 Fury: Sat 8 May - Last Saturday the Fury came to PLC to play the Waratah Ninjas. The Fury scored the first and second goals but then the Ninjas scored a goal and they were catching up. Luckily the Fury scored the next four goals.

Jim Jones

U9 Thunder: Sat 8 May: We played against Waratah Raider Nashdale this week and won 3-2. Our teamwork really showed with excellent passes to our team-mates.  Daniel showed resilience when one goal missed the mark and he then went back again and scored.  Jack did a couple of amazing runs up the field and scored twice.  Henry and Crispin were great goalies.  There were a few nail biting moments on the edge of the field, but Thunder did really well against a well-drilled Nashdale.

Reginald Caskey

U11 United: On 1 May U11 United played against Waratahs at PLC. We had our best game of football ever. Our passing was fantastic and our positional play was perfect. We were able to take away a win, 7-0.  We would like to thank Griffin Robinson for refereeing on the day.

Chloe Caro

On 8 May we played at Jack Brabham against OAGS. It was a great game and we held them to 0-0 at the end of the first half. At the start of the second half we scored a great goal, however, OAGS came back to win 3-1. Our defensive play was great and George made so many saves in goal.
