Stage 3

5/6K - Mr Kirkpatrick

Peter and Wendy Novel Study

5/6K have been working hard this term. In English they are studying the novel Peter and Wendy by J.M Barrie. Students have been creating summaries to help understand the text as they work towards answering one of three questions: what is Neverland; how does Peter feel towards mothers; or why doesn't Peter decide to stay with the Darling family?

Measurement and Geometry

In Mathematics, 5/6K have been expanding their learning of measurement and geometry. They are designing a house floor plan and working out the perimeter and area so they can cost the price of bricks and flooring.

Stage 3 Debating

On Thursday 27 May, the two Leumeah Public School debating teams, the Champions and Legends, participated in their first round debates against Minto and Ruse Public School. Mr Kirkpatrick and Mr Boyd have been supporting our debaters, Athena, Saniya, Samara, Sanaya, Samantha, Sadia, Minuli and Rayan in weekly workshops. The topics for the debates were "Homework should be banned in schools" and "Schools should have a three day weekend." We were on the opposing side for both debates and we were successful in winning both of them.
