Student Excellence

What a term it has been for students in the excellence program.

Grade 5’s in the Lego Mindstorms team have stepped it up a notch preparing for their competition against other schools later this year. Teams have been working together to use block code to program their Mindstorm to complete different courses. This provided teams an opportunity to put the skills they have learnt at the beginning of the term into practice. It has been a fantastic opportunity for problem solving and thinking skills to be out to the test in a friendly competitive way.

All the best when you compete later this year!

Mrs Perera and the Grade 4 students have been busy investigating and researching what it takes to become a journalist and publish a newspaper. Students have used a variety of magazines and newspapers, to analyse what information their own Roxy Newspaper would need to have. Students decided what topics and genres they wanted to research and report back on, therefore needing to tee up interviews with specific students, teachers and other members of the school community to gather their information. Students will continue to investigate writing craft techniques in order to further develop their skills with their audience in mind.

Stay tuned for the next newsletter to see which year levels and programs will be running next!
