Banyule Youth Summit 2021

The Banyule Youth Summit was on Tuesday, May 18 2021. It was held at the Heidelberg Golf Club in Lower Plenty.

Three of our School Captains Bri, Ben, and Luca were able to attend. Over 100 young people attended and engaged in passionate discussion around topics of interest to them.

They listened to talks from other influential young people and then worked in groups to share what they are concerned about and what changes they would like to see.

Our group was passionate about seeing more accessibility in our community and

Ben proudly shared our group’s ideas to the whole Summit. Excellent achievement by all and a great day!

Banyule Youth Services provides a wide range of services and activities for students, parents and teachers in our local community.

All three students were outstanding in their contributions and represented Concord School exceptionally well.

Highlights the Youth Summit can be viewed on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqXQPO-xXIk&ab_channel=BanyuleYouth (Ben’s presentation is at the 16 minute mark).

Student Wellbeing

Student Wellbeing staff play an important role within Concord School. They are there to support students who are at risk of disengagement and not achieving their educational potential.

Laura Lamers has left the team to become a teacher at Concord School. Thank you Laura for all your work and contributions.

Ensuring our students are positively engaged in as many aspects of school life as possible is however a whole school endeavor and the wellbeing staff work closely with leadership, teachers, therapists and classroom assistants from across the school.

The Wellbeing team provides direct day-to-day support for students, wrap around services, develops partnerships with community agencies, works with families where appropriate, addresses attendance issues, provides direct therapeutic support to students and supports staff in how they can bring out the best in our students.

Importantly the team focuses on the wellbeing of our students and strives to ensure all students are engaged and enjoying learning and life at Concord School.

Please feel free to contact the Wellbeing team either via the child’s teacher or directly to me.
