Leadership Preparation Program

I am pleased to confirm the launch of the Shelford Leadership Preparation Program that will be offered to Year 10 and Year 11 students early next term. Each program will consist of two after school sessions and is suitable for all students who would like to explore their understanding of leadership and to tap into their leadership potential. An Operoo form will be sent next week and will include further information and dates. I look forward to working with our Year 10 and Year 11 students in this exciting new program.

Parents and Carers Information Night

Free E-safety Webinar

Wednesday 16 June, 7.30–8.30pm

Glen Eira Youth Services will present a free 60-minute live presentation talking about digital safety in the home. This session aims to provide parents and carers with invaluable insight into popular platforms and the online world. Parents and carers will be provided with the tools to build a healthy family environment where safe digital use is encouraged but managed effectively. There will be a discussion about the ways to ensure young people stay safe through privacy settings and also help them build positive digital habits.

Leadership Summit

All students are invited to join Girl Up for a global summit featuring girl leaders, youth activists, thought leaders and influential changemakers. A two-day virtual summit on 13–14 July, will bring together movers and changemakers from around the globe committed to gender equality. Once you've registered for the summit, you'll be invited to join the tour.

Speakers include:

  • Malala Yousafzai – 2014 Nobel Peace Laureate
  • Amina J Mohammed – Deputy Secretary-General, United Nations
  • Nomzamo Mbatha – Actress and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador

Term 2 has been a hub of excitement and activity at Shelford. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our students on their participation, learning and many achievements. I look forward to our final assembly next week, where if restrictions permit, we will enjoy celebrating the end of term together. I wish all a restful break and look forward to seeing everyone back for an amazing Term 3.
