MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

Daniel Grozdanovski

Year 10 Coordinator

We now begin our approach to the end of Term Two. With another snap lockdown thrown at our students it has been amazing to see the resilience they continue to show, both online and when returning back to on-site learning. A couple of key dates are below in regards to the end of this term.

  • Monday, 14 June - Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday- No Staff or students at school
  • Friday, 18 June - Assessment and Report Writing Day - Student Free day
  • Friday, 25 June - Last day of Term (1:30 pm finish)
  • Monday, 12 July - Semester 2 and Term 3 begins

Be Bold Be Heard

Over the past few weeks we have had a number of female students from the Year 9 and 10 Cohort participating in the Be Bold Be Heard Program. The aim of this program is to empower and inspire our girls to make some changes in the Middle Years. They have participated in facilitated discussions that have led to fantastic ideas for the Middle Years moving forward. The girls are now implementing some of these, such as bringing in Self Defence Classes, access to female only sporting areas at recess and lunchtime and building stronger connections with students and staff. We look forward to seeing what else the girls put together during the remainder of the year.

Change of Semester and Subject Changes

The change of semester is now occurring at the beginning of Term 3. This means students will complete an extra week of their current timetable before transitioning over to new electives at the start of Term 3. Timetables will be shared with students next week and due to the difficulties of selecting subjects last year during COVID, they will be given the opportunity to discuss any subject changes with Allister Hill (Middle Sub School Leader) and Daniel Grozdanovski (Year 10 Coordinator). Students will need to fill out a subject change form at the Middle Sub School office once they've had a discussion with either of the above staff.

Exams

Middle school students are now completing their exams this week. Exams allow our students to consolidate their learning in the classroom, learn/practise study techniques for summative assessments and provide the experience of preparing for exams and develop coping strategies that will enhance student resilience. Students who have missed exams due to an illness/absence are encouraged to catch up on this missed exam. Please see Mr Hill or Mr Grozdanovski to organise a time.
