Melinda Tankard Reist Seminars

We are excited to have renowned speaker, Melinda Tankard Reist, visiting our school from 17-18 June 2021. Melinda is an engaging speaker, author, media commentator, blogger and advocate for young people. Melinda will also be joined by Daniel Principe who is a dynamic, passionate and natural communicator, committed to helping young people navigate a po*nified world.

Sadly, it is the reality that our children and young people are being bombarded with hyperse*ualised messages from media and popular culture all the time. Melinda and Daniel's presentations to our Stages 3, 4, 5 and 6 students should provide students with the tools to wisely navigate this increasingly se*ualised world. 

Student sessions - applies to Years 5 - 12 only

Melinda and Daniel will present to Secondary boys and girls separately on Thursday 17 June and they will present to all of Stage 3 (Years 5 & 6) students on Friday 18 June.

Community seminar - for all parents/carers (not suitable for U18s)

We have also arranged for Melinda and Daniel to present a community seminar on Thursday 17 June, 2021 at 7pm. I would encourage all NCS parents/carers to attend this important event. Tickets for the wider community will be $10 per person. NCS parents can receive up to two tickets free by using the code emailed to them last Friday. 

NCS Athletics Carnival (Years 3-12) - 15 June

All students in Years 3-12 are expected to attend the Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 15 June (Week 9) at Ron Brown Sporting Complex (Shoalhaven High School oval). Seniors must attend the carnival, either as a competitor, or as a helper.

Pre-Carnival Events - 1500m and rotational throw discus. Our 1500m running and rotational throw discus events will be held prior to the beginning of the carnival. Students who are accomplished in using a rotation discus throw/have Little Athletics or similar training in the use of the cage, may choose to participate in this event and will need to be at the oval by 8.15am. Students participating in the 1500m will need to arrive no later than 8:30am.

Please note: (non-rotational throw) discus, shot put and javelin will be held at school during PE/sport lessons.

Uniform:- SPORT UNIFORM MUST BE WORN TO AND FROM THE CARNIVAL (including a hat). On arrival at the oval, students may change into suitable protective clothing in House colours. (Sea Kings - purple & white. Black Hawks - black & green). Students should be prepared for a variety of weather conditions.

Transport:- Buses will depart NCS at approximately 8:30am and will return in time for students to catch their usual afternoon buses. Only students under direct supervision of parents/carers may make their own way to the grounds by 8:45am.

Other info:- There is no canteen available on the day. Students need to bring recess, lunch and a drink bottle. Please ensure asthmatics bring their own medication. Parents/carers are most welcome to come and cheer their children on!

PARKING:- Parents/carers attending should park in Holloway Dr or Hillcrest Ave

WET WEATHER:- Please listen to radio 2ST or check Facebook between 7:00am-7.30am, in case adverse weather necessitates the need to postpone the carnival.

School Photo Day - Tuesday 8 June 2021

Don't forget that it is school photo day this Tuesday! Please don't be late for school on this day. Students will need to be dressed in full school uniform. Due to the busyness of the front office, no uniforms will be sold on the day, so please ensure you purchase your children's uniform prior to photo day, if needed.

Primary Girls - 'Navy shorts/pants with red polo' OR 'summer dress' (please no winter tunics)

Primary Boys - 'Navy (grey) shorts/pants with red polo'

Secondary Girls - 'Navy shorts/pants/skirt with white polo'

Secondary Boys - 'Navy (grey) shorts/pants with blue polo'

Senior Girls - 'Senior skirt/Navy pants with white short sleeve blouse'

Senior Boys - 'Navy shorts/pants with white short sleeve shirt'

Please note: If your child is still wearing the grey pants, that is allowed as these are still appropriate uniform items until the end of this year. However, if you own both, we would prefer your child to wear navy on the day. We do not expect you to buy navy shorts/pants for photo day.
