Netball Schools Cup Gala Day

The NCS Stars 'Green' 3/4 Netball team had an enjoyable day at the Shoalhaven netball courts on Tuesday 25 May. We played 5 games against other local schools, including St Michael’s, NAC and Cambewarra. Our girls all played well, tried hard and did us proud, representing their school with fantastic sportsmanship and enthusiasm. Well done to Claire, Amelia and Luka for scoring goals throughout the day and Alexis, Isabella, Havana, Sophie, Isabella, Olivia, Chelsea and Lauren for all working so well as a team. A very big thank you to Abby for her amazing umpiring and giving up her time to come with us for the day.

CSSA Secondary State Cross Country success!

Our Secondary State Cross Country team had a great day at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre on Friday 28 May. We sent a team of 16 students, all of whom qualified through from our CSSA South Coast Zone event earlier in the month.

Covid restrictions saw smaller competitor numbers this year but the competition was still strong in each race. Our students showed great team spirit and all put in an excellent effort with many finishing in the top 50.

A huge congratulations to the following students who placed in the top 10 and have qualified for the CIS Cross Country Championships at Sydney Motorsport Park on Thursday 10 June, 2021:

  • Claire H - 9th place 14 Year Girls
  • Hamish McL - 4th place - 14 Year Boys
  • Emily McL - 1st place - 13 Year Girls
  • Joel H - 1st place - 13 Year Boys

Congratulations to all of our students who competed and represented our school well -Bethany D, Harriet P, Millie W, Madeleine C, Courtney L, Kent E, Jesse R, Ethan L, Jonathan McL, Ollie E, Rohan B and Jack L.

A massive thanks to our wonderful parents/carers who came along to support their runners and to provide transport.

CSSA South Coast Zone Soccer Gala Day

Last Tuesday, NCS sent three teams to compete in the CSSA South Coast Zone Soccer (Football) Gala Day. This was the first big gala day for 2021 and the players were enthusiastic and excited to be competing against ICS, Cedars, Calderwood and Southern Highlands Christian Schools.

Our teams played incredibly well across all games throughout the day with all three teams finishing second overall.

Well done to all of our students who participated in the Gala Day! Thank you to those parents/carers who came along to support our students & to our wonderful staff who were busy coaching throughout the day.

Secondary Netball NSW Schools Cup

On 26 May, Years 7 and 8 students took part in the Netball NSW Schools Cup. A girls and a boys team, with 10 players each, went down to the Shoalhaven Netball Courts to compete against other schools in the region.

Due to the small number of boys teams entered in the competition, the Year 7 boys team played both their own Year 7 age group as well as the Years 9 and 10 teams. While the boys played well, they sadly won no games that day. But it was a good day and a great learning experience for all. The Years 7 and 8 girls team won 2 of the 6 games they played. The girls played their best against very tough competition.

Cheyenne B was a huge help on the day as she coached and umpired the Year 7 boys team. Several members of the team also assisted and helped on the day by umpiring: Charley L-B, Adele G, Charlotte S and Chloe C.

Sadly, no teams made it through to the next round, despite their valiant efforts. Hopefully, more practice will see NCS victorious next year.

CIS U15 Secondary Girls AFL trials

A massive congratulations to Madeleine (Year 8) who represented NCS at the CIS U15 Secondary Girls AFL trials recently.

Madeleine was asked to share a little about her experience:

'On 6 May, I had a great opportunity to trial for the CIS AFL team. There was a record number of girls who came for the trials. I was the only person from this region at the trials. There were many talented girls from all over the state. I played two games. I was not successful in making the team though I had a lot of fun in the process and appreciated the opportunity.'

Well done Madeleine, we are so proud of you!
